Shaker Heights police arrest boys, 14 and 15, with guns in stolen car
Shaker Heights police arrest two teen boys found driving a stolen car and in possession of guns.
SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio -- After being tipped off by an automated license plate reader about a stolen car in the vicinity, Shaker Heights police tracked down the vehicle and arrested its two occupants, boys 14 and 15.
The tip off came at 1:30 a.m. July 29 when it was learned that a Kia car that had been reported stolen from the city of Lakewood had entered Shaker Heights.
The car’s driver fled from police, but the vehicle was soon after located in the area of Lee Road and South Park Boulevard. As officers approached, the two youths were seen running from the car.
Officers searched the area and eventually detained a 15-year-old Cleveland boy and an East Cleveland boy, 14. Police recovered from them suspected marijuana and two firearms.
Police charged the boys with receiving stolen property, carrying concealed weapons, fleeing and eluding, obstructing official business, and curfew violations.
The driver of the stolen vehicle, the 15-year-old, was also charged with furnishing false information after admitting to being the car’s driver, but then giving officers false information about his identity.
